Flies are the biggest problem…I am looking for a more natural way of keeping them off the horses.

  2. We have fly problems like everyone else. Would love to find a kinder way to keep them off our carriage horses. They get into their eyes and cause sores. They are very hard to heal.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Hi Charlene, Sounds like fly masks might help with your carriage horses. Have you tried those? I think the Baby Face product would be great for around the eyes too.

My biggest fly problem is with face flies that bother my 34 year old geldings EYES! I’ve started using a fly mask which helps tremendously, but now they are starting on his ears!! Would love to not have to have him wear an ‘ear mask’ too …

Ticks are terrible where we are!!! And flies are pretty bad too!!! I hate putting the fly spray on our horses b/c its so toxic and makes them all sticky feeling.

My horse’s eyes get easily irritated and swollen if she goes without her fly mask because they just make her so ITCHY… but I need to swap for clean fly masks every other day otherwise her eyes get irritated by a mask that is at all dirty as well. It’s a pain for my poor sensitive mare when the barn help does not take off her mask at night to give her face a “breather”! My mare is also very allergic to horse flies, which luckily we don’t get too many of where I live now!

Flies used to be my biggest problem, I am a Green Horse Organics girl already, but I would love to try the baby face. The other biggest problem I had was my horses standing still while I applied the fly spray, but again being the Green Horse Organics girl that is no longer a problem either. My horses love this stuff. Thanks Nancy for making and selling this product. I’m sending business your way.

The type of insect which causes the most problems for my horses are small black flies. They tend to get on the horses’ bellies and lower legs and drive them nuts. We have fly traps out, use natural fly spray, fly masks, and the horses are turned out 24/7 but the flies are still annoying!

the gnats! to keep them out of the ears is a real problem around here!

mostly biting flies on the legs and face flies

All biting insects are a bother, but I think the gnats that bite inside their ears and midline along their belly are the worse! I have been trying all kinds of formulas for making fly spray with ACV, essential oils and water. I stay away from chemical formulas for my horses and for myself.
