Product Review: Animal Element Foundation Daily Detox
I haven’t done a product review in a while (and in fact, am not doing them for the most part anymore), but I decided to make an exception for a product that I’ve been using since spring: Foundation Daily Detox with Joint Support from Animal Element. I’d like to state up front that I was not asked to do this review and am not being reimbursed in any way; this is simply my honest review which I felt compelled to write because this product has truly made a difference for my mare, Lee Lee, who’s suffered from skin allergies for the past five years or so.
I’d also like to state that I’ve actually used this detox product before but purchased a smaller bag and didn’t use it long term. I didn’t see much of a difference at that time. However, after talking with a friend who has witnessed some dramatic benefits for horses on the supplement, I decided to try it again and ordered a bag this past spring. This time, however, I purchased a larger size (the 12 lb. bag) and with my three horses, this bag lasted nearly four months. By month two or so, I began seeing noticeable benefits and have since reordered the product.
As I stated previously, Lee Lee has suffered from skin allergies for a while, and though I’ve been able to help her by feeding some individual ingredients like MSM, spirulina, and chondroitin, every summer, her condition returned. It always clears up in late fall and winter, but the following spring, I know we’re in for more trouble.
Sometimes, price is a deterrent for me on certain supplements, because let’s face it, many of them are pricey. And though the Animal Element products aren’t exactly cheap, if I break it down, this product is really only costing me about $15 a horse per month, which is pretty darn affordable.
The key with summer skin allergies is getting ahead of the problem, which means starting supplements in spring (or feeding year round), and I’ve learned this by making the mistake of waiting too long to start Lee Lee on other supplements.
But the difference in her skin allergies this year has simply been amazing. While she’s not 100% itch-free, I’ve noticed a remarkable difference in her scratching behavior. Whereas she used to stand and rub her neck, chest, and belly on a daily basis, I haven’t witnessed nearly as much of this behavior this year. The difference is also visible in her coat. Usually by this time of year, her coat would be dull and hair would be rubbed off in places such as her chest and neck, but this year, she has virtually no rubbed-off spots and is actually nice and shiny! In fact, all three of my horses’ hair coats look great right now.
What I love about this product is that it’s completely natural and it even includes joint support, which is great for my older horses. Here are the ingredients:
Proprietary blend of Zeolite, Diatomaceous Earth (DE), Spirulina, Organic Kelp, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Red Raspberry Leaf, Organic Hawthorn Leaf and Flower, Fenugreek, Organic Turmeric, and Hyaluronic Acid.
There are no fillers, no inactive ingredients, and it’s non-GMO.
For Lee Lee, this product has truly been a life changer. I can tell she’s so much more comfortable this year.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any before pictures since I wasn’t planning on writing this review and I didn’t get any close up pictures of her hair in the last few summers, but here she is now.
I would recommend Animal Element’s Foundation Daily Detox product for anyone dealing with skin allergies in their horse or just as a general daily detox supplement.
